Dyuman Aditya
PhD Student in Robotics @ USC
About me
I’m a first year PhD Student at the University of Southern California advised by Profs. Gaurav Sukhatme & Quan Nguyen at the Robotics Embedded Systems Lab and the Dynamic Robotics & Control Lab
In the past I have worked as a visiting student researcher at ETH Zurich in the CRL Lab and as a research assistant at the IAS Lab run by Prof. Jan Peters at TU Darmstadt.
Previously I’ve had the opportunity to work on Neurosymbolic AI with Prof. Paulo Shakarian at the Leibniz Lab and ARLIS. I was very fortunate to be one of the early members of Telekinesis, a startup aimed at providing a no-code robot programming solution, based out of TU Darmstadt. I received my Masters from Centrale Nantes in Advanced Robotics and my BSc from the Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education in Computer Science, Math and Physics.
Research
My research focuses on enabling robots to continuously adapt to changes in their environment. I am particularly interested in developing methods that allow robots to safely explore, efficiently learn the dynamics of their surroundings, and adapt their behavior online without requiring extensive retraining. To this end, I’m exploring how physics-informed world models can enable robots to predict the consequences of their actions, reason about changing dynamics, and adapt safely and efficiently from limited real-world experience.
Much of my past reseach has been on neurosymbolic AI - where I worked on combining the fields of logic and learning to produce explainable systems, more powerful than the sum of their parts.
